Job Title: Multi-Skilled Tool Room Operator
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Location: Dronfield
Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Multi-Skilled Tool Room Operator to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture, repair, and maintenance of precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and components. You will play a critical role in ensuring our production lines remain operational by delivering high-quality engineering solutions with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
• Manual Machining: Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders to produce components to precise tolerances.
• CNC Operation: Set up and operate CNC Milling Machines utilizing Fanuc & Prototrak controllers.
• Tool Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, sharpening, and repair of existing tooling and dies.
• Precision Measurement: Conduct self-inspection of parts using micrometres, verniers, height gauges, and other metrology equipment to ensure adherence to technical drawings.
• Problem Solving: Work from engineering drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions to manufacture “one-off” components or replacement parts.
• Independent Working: Manage your own workload effectively to meet tight production deadlines while maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
Required Skills & Experience
• Manual Machining Expertise: Proven experience in the operation of Manual Lathes & Milling Machines, and Surface Grinders is essential.
• CNC Knowledge: Proficient in the operation of CNC machines, Fanuc & Prototrak controls desired.
• Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
• Independence: A “can-do” attitude with the ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
• Quality Focused: A meticulous eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality precision work.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
• Safety Conscious: Demonstrate a strict adherence to all Health and Safety protocols, including the correct use of PPE and machine guarding.
• Risk Awareness: Ability to identify potential hazards within a tool room environment and take proactive steps to mitigate risks.
• Compliance: Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure all equipment is operated in accordance with manufacturer safety guidelines.
